Narsimha kavacha/locket silver and tulasi necklace from Vrindavan

A sacred ritual of bathing Lord Nrisimhadeva, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, with various essential oils. The pujaris (priests) perform the abhisheka (bathing ceremony) using 16 different oils, such as sandalwood, kusha, rose, jata, mansi, camphor, and aguru. The ritual uses almost 50 liters of oil, highlighting the grandeur and reverence involved in honoring the divine form. Following the bath, an adivas ceremony is performed to invoke auspiciousness.

The mention of “Maha oil” suggests that this oil, blessed through the ceremony, is sacred. The instruction to apply it only to the hands or forehead and to treat it with utmost respect emphasizes its sanctity. It is not meant for consumption but for external application as a way to honor and connect with the divine.
